George Natembeya Vows to Fight Those Who Plan to Dethrone Power: “I'm a Commando”

Speaking in Kiminini on Thursday, January 16, Natembeya expressed his frustration with people allegedly plotting against him, accusing them of bringing division and interference from outside the county.

Who is trying to influence Natembeya's removal?

In a strong speech to his supporters, Natembeya outlined the positive steps his administration has taken, noting that the county, which was previously in a bad state, has now begun to make progress.

He denied allegations of mismanagement and expressed his commitment to addressing issues such as poverty and unemployment.

Natembeya asked the residents of Trans Nzoia to be strong and not accept outside forces to interfere in the administration of the county.

He also questioned the intentions of those plotting to overthrow him, saying no one deserves to interfere in the affairs of other counties.

“So, to our people of Trans Nzoia, I would like to tell you one thing: our county has started to rise; it was in a ditch. There is a lot of work we are doing. But there are people who are starting to cause problems. People with their counties are calling our leaders, they are sending them Eldoretand told them to go and expel Natembeya. Will you accept that, my people?

“No one has the right to interfere in other counties. People should take care of their counties, right? And we will take care of our county. If I say our people are facing problems—poverty, unemployment, and suffering from all the bad things—that's wrong, or what do you say? If I say I want to raise my people, is that really a mistake? The Kenyan Constitution allows us to do that.” the governor told the enthusiastic crowd.

What is Natembeya's message to his critics?

Turning to the growing political tension, Natembeya declared that threats and political games will not scare him.

The county leader said he was ready to face his critics directly, asking them to prepare accordingly.

Natembeya drew laughter from the crowd when he referred to his background in the disciplinary services, announcing that he was a commando.

“We are not afraid, and I want our people to stand strong. Isn't that right?! We don't want games here. And let me tell you, I am a commando. We ended the era of intimidation a long time ago; no one can threaten me. That will not happen. Whoever wants me to be threatened, prepare well,” Natembeya announced.

Do the Luhya leaders oppose the plans to expel Natembeya?

Earlier, a section of the Bukusu Council of Elders issued a strong warning against any attempt to oust Governor Natembeya.

The elders, gathered in the Museum of Kitalecondemned the plans, threatening serious political consequences if the motion to remove Natembeya continues.

Led by the chairman of the council, Peter Masinde, the elders spoke strongly against the plan to remove him, which has been linked to the remarks made by Natembeya against the President's government William Ruto.

Natembeya, in a recent interview on the radio, revealed that some leaders of the union of Kenya First they are reportedly plotting to remove him from office because of his strong stance against Ruto.

Masinde quickly emphasized that the proposal to fire Natembeya does not have solid and fair grounds, but is politically driven.
