DP Kindiki dropped from deputy party leader position as ANC merges with UDA

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been removed from his position as the deputy party leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after the ruling party officially merged with Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Speaking during the official ceremony at the State House, UDA National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire said the new party would see changes in its logo and symbols.

“The UDA party and the Amani National Congress have today merged as one known as the UDA party; that is also going to change the name and the branding,” Mbarire said.

“The party has incorporated ANC identity symbols in the logo, imagery, and topography and shall resultantly undertake a myriad of other changes in the governance and operations of the party.”

Party structure

Mbarire said that in the new arrangement, Kindiki would be dropped in favour of Lamu governor Issa Timamy, who was formerly the deputy party leader of the ANC.

Also, ANC chairman Kelvin Lunani will also be incorporated into the new party leadership as the vice-chairperson of the new outfit while ANC’s Secretary-General Omboko Milemba will be the deputy secretary-general of the new party.

“We are going to bring in the ANC secretariat into the new formation, including directors at the top level and staff that will help in getting this new formation forward,” Mbarire added.
