Kishane Thompson is a famous Jamaican Track and Field athlete, who was born on Jul 17, 2001 in Mitchell Town, Jamaica. Grace Allen is Kishane Thompson’s mother, who gave birth to the champion at Lionel Town Hospital.

Thompson enrolled in Bustmante High School where he completed his schooling. He has a twin brother named Kishaun.

Growing up in rural Jamaica, he was coached throughout his school career by a string of Jamaican athletics legends and was tipped for success from the start despite suffering hamstring injuries and missing out on years of competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In June, 2024, Kishane Thompson ran 9.82 seconds for the 100m in the opening round at the Jamaican Olympic trials in Kingston, Jamaica. In the subsequent final, he ran a new personal best of 9.77 seconds to win the Jamaican national title.

Kshane Thompson is coached by none other than the legendary Stephen ‘Franno’ Francis, who has coached numerous Jamaican athletes and Olympic champions.

Francis has overseen Thompson’s development at MVP Track Club since 2020. Francis knows what it takes to mould an Olympic champion having coached the last four women’s 100m champions and trained Asafa Powell.

Among the other names the Jamaican coach has coached include Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Michael Frater and Brigitte Foster-Hylton. There is no better man to prepare Thompson  for future success than Francis.

Kishane Thompson enjoys sponsorship through the Jamaican Athletics Association that inks deals with several companies and organizations including Puma, Scotiabank Jamaica, FLOW Jamaica, Supreme Ventures, Red Stripe, Sunshine Snacks Jamaica, and Gatorade Jamaica. 

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) renewed its partnership with Puma, which provides about $6 million annually to support the federation.

Kishane Thompson won a silver medal in the 100m at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He finished with a time of 9.79 seconds, tied with Noah Lyles, who was awarded the gold medal by a margin of five-thousandths of a second.

The close finish led to a heated debate among sports enthusiasts and analysts. Many argued that the race was a ‘dead heat’ and that the gold medal should have been shared between the two athletes since their times were identical.

Thompson has competed in several Diamond League events, including in Monaco, Xiamen, and Eugene, Oregon but has never finished in a podium position.
