The world record stands at 2:00:35 and was set by the late Kelvin Kiptum, an undeniably rare talent in the world of athletics and as the strong men assemble, fast times are assured and that record might also be threatened.
Kiplimo has been very consistent in his running career and injuries brought him agony at some point in his career but that is now a thing of the past. As he embraces this new journey, he will be out to cement his name in the annals of history.
The two-time world cross-country champion hopes to have a successful debut like Kiptum or Sabastian Sawe who will also be toeing the line in the streets of London.

Jacob Kiplimo, the former world half marathon record holder has his work cut out just in his debut but he will surely deliver. He has been known to show up even when times get tough and injuries prevail and the marathon is just another chance for him to prove his capabilities.
Aside from battling Sabastian Sawe, the reigning Valencia Marathon champion, Jacob Kiplimo will also have to go up against Timothy Kiplagat, defending champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao and Milkesa Mengesha.
Reigning Olympic marathon champion Tamirat Tola and New York City Marathon champion Abdi Nageeye have also been confirmed for the high-profile marathon. Hillary Kipkoech, Amanal Petros and Sondre Nordstad Moen are also some of the top athletes who will be competing.
