Ongata Rongai: Tragedy High School Student Dies After Receiving KCSE Results

Ongata Rongai — Tragedy has struck the Nkaimurunya Secondary School community following the death of one of its former students.

Mwendazake took the National Secondary School Examination (KCSE) in 2024 and was hoping to get a high score.

What score did the deceased get?

However, it is reported that the girl lost the meaning of life after the results were announced, where she got a C+ grade.

Sources told TUKO.co.ke that his body is currently in the mortuary at the Ongata Rongai Health Center while his relatives are planning his funeral.

The incident left her classmates, teachers, and family in shock, with many wondering why she felt so hopeless about her results.

“That's very sad. People have scored worse than C+ in KCSE, but they still make it in life,” one resident complained.

Those who knew Florence have described her as an intelligent and diligent leader who served her colleagues faithfully.

“This death has deeply saddened us,” one school teacher said.

“He was not only a student, but also a symbol of hope and a good example for many.”

He was also known for his leadership skills, serving as Vice President of the school's student body.

Circles told TUKO.co.ke that the deceased had a twin sister who repeated her studies and is in Form Three in a different school.

Reports indicate that problems started when the KCSE results were announced and former students shared their marks in a WhatsApp group of former members of the school.

Since he was the Vice-Principal and the favorite of the teachers, expectations were high that he would get the highest score.

When he informed his classmates that he got a C+, they laughed at him, which apparently annoyed him.

“A neighbor's child saw his body and informed his parents, who went and found him already dead,” the source said.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, while local leaders are encouraging students and parents to focus on mental health and seek help during challenging times.
