Has Rashford sent a message to Amorim?

Rashford was sent off for the first time against Manchester City on December 15 and has not played for his boyhood club since.

A few days after the new coach Amorim left him, he revealed that “he wants a new challenge” and has already been linked with an exit this month.

He reportedly missed the last two games due to illness, which appears to have subsided. He posted a video of himself with a helmet on a bike on his story Instagramaccording to the Manchester Evening News.

It remains to be seen if he will be involved against Southampton. The video probably shows Amorim that he is still fine.

What conflict does Amorim have with Rashford?

Rashford had a few disciplinary issues with former coach Erik Ten Hag, which led to a penalty.

In January 2024, he missed Man United's FA Cup win over Newport County because he said he was ill. However, he was reportedly in nightclubs in Northern Ireland hours before the game, according to The Guardian.

The Athletic reported that Rashford was out less than 48 hours before Man United won 4-0 on December 1, in which the winger scored twice.

“For a long time, for example with Rash, you try something, it doesn't work,” Amorim said. “Should we continue to do the same? Or something different?”

The Portuguese coach told Sky Sports that Rashford must “want it.”

“I already talked a lot about Marcus, it depends on him more than me,” added Amorim. “He has to want it really, really bad. He's here, he's in our squad so he's our player and he's ready to play if I decide.”

Will Rashford leave Man United?

Days after Amorim first dumped him, the 227-year-old told veteran journalist Henry Winter that he wanted to leave Man United.

“I think I'm ready for new challenges and next steps,” he said. “If I leave it will be 'no strong feelings'. You won't have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.”

He also expressed his honest feelings about the abandonment of the Manchester derby.

“It's disappointing to be left out of the Derby,” Rashford added. “But it happened, we won the game so let's move on.”
