A Nairobi businessman is claiming his property from his estranged husband, Mutembei, three years after their marriage ended.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Purity Wambui, popularly known as Purity Mitumba Bales, said she has no intention of claiming her ex-husband's property but only wants what is legally owned by her.
“I don't want anything Mutembei owns; I don't want the child support money because he has never given any help. All I want is what is mine; he can keep other assets for his next family,” he said.
Wambui explained that he fully developed the property and is ready to do everything he can to ensure that he gets his right.
She also promised to fight for other women who lost their property in similar situations.
“I fully developed the plot. I will fight for all the women in my message box who have lost their wealth to men like Mutembei. Please help me do this as a sister or son of a lost mother. Help me with the best legal advice you can. Don't send me a psychologist; I am not sick,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Purity Wambui paid her own dowry
This ambitious woman revealed that she got married in 2004 and divorced her husband in 2021 due to marital problems.
“When I got married in 2004, I was a young, humble, quiet, well-mannered, and intelligent girl. I left in 2021 as an old, weak, and honest woman; all my youthful years were lost. I left under the pressure of blood, suffering from anxiety and fear,” he said.
She noted that they were ten years apart in age, and she was 24 when they started living together.
According to the businessman, she had more money than her husband, which made her feel inferior.
“Pury paid for her dowry and built a rental house for the man,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
“I had a lot of money that made her feel that I was not a real man. I was married myself, and she hated me from the first day. She used to tell me that I was not beautiful at all even though I did everything for her,” he added.
He said they were also blessed with three children, all of whom are under his care.
Wambui said he bought a plot in Mwihoko, Githurai alone but she agreed to include her husband's name in the agreement documents for the purchase of the farm.
Later she developed the land and built rental houses on her own but her husband collects the rent.
“I paid my own dowry and gave KSh 40,000. The property is under his name and mine, but I built the house 100 percent after two years, but today he is the one who collects the rent,” he said.
The mother of three also claimed that she paid Mutembei KSh 1,000 for each site visit during construction.
He said he covered all his food needs and all the costs of the project while financing the project with his own strength.
