Nairobi – One nanny, a citizen of Uganda A man accused of carrying out a daring robbery in the Eastleigh area has been arrested after weeks on the run.
Everline Loice Nabalayo, 23, was arrested by detectives from DCI Starehe in Kariokor when he was trying to board a bus to Uganda.
He is now in police custody and is facing charges over the incident, which took place on November 1, 2024.
“After a search of several days, detectives have finally arrested Nabalayo in Kariokor while he was trying to escape from the bus that was heading to Uganda. He is under police custody, being processed, waiting to be brought to court,” DCI said in a statement.
What happened during the Eastleigh robbery?
According to police reports filed at the Pangani Police Station, Nabalayo was working as a maid in the Ushirika Tower apartment building.
On the day of the robbery, he allegedly conspired with his partner, and opened the door to allow the armed assailant to enter the house around 4:40 p.m.
According to CCTV footage, the assailant, armed with a hammer, reportedly attacked a 20-year-old domestic worker, Hakimo Muhidin, with the help of Nabalayo.
The robbers escaped with valuables, including gold jewelery worth KSh 210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop worth KSh 110,000, an Infinix phone worth KSh 15,000, four additional laptops and an undisclosed amount of money.
Muhidin suffered serious injuries, including a broken tooth, injuries to his head, arms and legs, and whip marks on his back. He was treated and discharged and is now recovering at a relative's home in Tassia Estate.
The tenant, who is a Somali man, was out with his children, while his wife was in India being treated during the incident.
How long was Nabalayo employed at Eastleigh?
Nabalayo, who had been employed by the family for only three weeks, fled the area with his assistant immediately after the robbery.
The search for his accomplice, who is also believed to be Ugandan, is still ongoing. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to reveal more details and recover the stolen items.
Nabalayo is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the robbery and the attack.

Other News, DCI technicians revealed information about a man who was allegedly killed in Milimani Kawaida area of Kiambu county.
According to their statement, the victim was planning a robbery in the area. After being seen, John Muchiri and his colleagues jumped from the building, leading to his tragic end.
Their statement dismissed earlier allegations linking Muchiri's death to kidnapping.
