Kibet Bull: Cartoonist Confirms Released Days After Kidnapping

When was Kibet Bull released?

Through his X account on the evening of Monday, January 6, Kibet shared details of his ordeal, saying that he was abandoned in Luanda, Vihiga county, between 9 and 10 am.

Kibet revealed that he sought refuge in a matanga disco after wandering and revealed that his phone was taken by his captors.

“They left me in Luanda, Vihiga, at 9-10 in the morning. I didn't know where to go or where to rent a room. luck good, I got a disco matanga, I danced until 12 in the morning and then I bought a ticket,” Kibet told.

His confirmation comes shortly after four other kidnapped people, including his brother, Rony Kiplagat, were released.

Kiplagat is reported to have been given a fare by his captors before being left in Machakos at three in the morning.

The absence of Kibet from the initial list of those who had been released caused it protest on the streets, while Kenyans demand that he be released immediately and without any conditions.

The kidnapping of the cartoonist happened shortly after he met with the senator of kiss and presidential candidate, Okiya Omtatah.

It is reported that the meeting discussed how Kibet would join Omtatah's presidential campaign team.

Activist Bernard Kavuli gives a statement after his release

The police have strongly denied their involvement in the kidnapping and release of young people who were critical of the government.

They said that one of the activists, Bernard Kavuli, voluntarily appeared at the police station to give information and help in the ongoing investigation.

The authorities also promised to contact the abductees and their families as they continue to investigate the incidents.
