A woman from Kikuyu, Kiambu county has surrendered to the police after allegedly killing her lover.

Grace Kamenju surrendered at the Kerwa police station shortly after the incident, which led to her arrest.
Kamenju is suspected of stabbing 29-year-old Peter Kigwai to death on the night of Saturday, January 4.

Confirming the incident, the regional commander of Kerwa, Bernard Waweru, explained that the deceased suffered two stab wounds in the stomach.
“Grace surrendered early in the morning around 7 o'clock and we were called to arrive at the scene. When we arrived, it seems that the deceased had two stab wounds in the stomach,” Waweru said in a Citizen TV report.
He added that he urged the youth to use peaceful ways to resolve conflicts instead of killing their peers when they encounter problems.
“We ask our young people to avoid taking the law into their own hands when they encounter misunderstandings with their partners. There are many ways to deal with issues in relationships, they should cooperate and learn to tolerate,” he advised.
The police have started an investigation to determine the circumstances of the murder of the 29-year-old man.
Residents of the village have also criticized the background checks of the new residents, suggesting a possible link between their presence and the increase in crime in the area.
The police moved the body and took it to Tigoni Hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The 23-year-old was arrested after initial investigations indicated that there was a family dispute that led to the death.
