On Monday, January 6, national newspapers highlighted the warning of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to Rigathi Gachagua.
1. Daily Nation
This newspaper reported a strong warning from the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking in Kimumu, Mbeere North, on Sunday, January 5, Kindiki accused Gachagua of incitement after Embu residents refused to listen to the President's speech William Ruto.
Kindiki accused Gachagua of allegedly creating divisions among the residents of Mount Kenya and failing to provide solutions to their problems.
“You cannot be a leader who listens to people's complaints, then you cry and complain without offering a solution. Your job is to stir up anger and frustration,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy President warned Gachagua's allies against spreading division in the area, adding that the current situation is dangerous.
2. Nation Today
This newspaper reports on former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua's threats to take President William Ruto's government to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Gachagua criticizes Kimani Ichung'wah for associating him with kidnapping: “Kenyans are intelligent”
Speaking during the church service in the Catholic Church Guardian Angel Tetu, Nyeri County, Sunday, January 5, Gachagua claimed that the government, through Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, is secretly funding an illegal group with the intention of causing violence among the people of Mount Kenya.
“The ICC should not wait until crimes against humanity occur. This group is known for committing crimes against humanity. Why, instead of the police protecting the criminal group as instructed by the Deputy President, don't they deal with the problem of illegal alcohol?'' Gachagua asked.
The former deputy president has instructed his partner, Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia, to write a record of all the crimes committed by the Mungiki group in the previous years and submit it to the ICC.
“Mr. Kaguchia, you must get a team and record all the crimes committed by that group of illegal gangs in the 1990s because they were crimes against humanity and start dealing with the ICC,” Gachagua directed.
According to Gachagua, the government is sponsoring Maina Njenga to fight those who oppose Ruto in Mt Kenya.
3. The Star
The publication highlighted the claims of the Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi that President William Ruto will be re-elected in 2027.
During the Kerio Valley Sect Prayer in Tot, Elgeyo Marakwet County, on Sunday, January 5, Sudi boldly announced that Ruto will serve two uninterrupted terms as Kenya's head of government.
Sudi dismissed claims of political instability, claiming that Kenya has never had a one-term president, and Ruto will not break that tradition.
“I have seen some of the people we removed from office talking badly about the president, President Ruto, no one should threaten you, have you ever seen a country where the president serves for one term, they will jump and jump but in the end everything will be fine. it will be fine. The president has eight years left before he can park his luggage and leave the position to someone else,” Sudi said.
