Lilian Mbugua: The Family of the Missing EABL Employee Tells How They Found Him

The family of Lilian Nyambura Mbugua, a manager at East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), can now breathe a sigh of relief after being found alive following several days of disappearance.

Mbugua is said to have disappeared on December 23, from his family home in Gikono, Kabati, Murang'a county.

How did Lilian Nyambura Mbugua's family manage to find her?

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mbugua's family said the EABL worker was found at a petrol filling station in Maragua Town, Murang'a County, on the morning of Tuesday, December 31.

His uncle, George Njuguna, said that Mbugua, who was at the filling station, instructed the attendants to contact his family and inform them of his whereabouts.

“He was helpless and confused, he says he found himself at a gas station and told the attendants to call his mother,” he said.

Njuguna confirmed that his nephew was taken to hospital for treatment after he was found, as he appeared to be depressed.

“He is expected to be taken to Nairobi for further treatment while the police continue to investigate the case,” said Njuguna.

How did Lilian Nyambura Mbugua disappear?

Lilian had traveled to her mother's home in Gikono, Murang'a county, on December 21 for the festive season before she went missing.

She was last seen leaving the family compound for what appeared to be an evening walk, wearing a hijab and slippers.

Panic arose when the 28-year-old failed to return, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, as he had left behind his mobile phone, car keys, laptop, house keys and identity documents.

The family lodged a report at the Gikono police station on December 24 with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Kenol.
