Nairobi – Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has implicated the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and the recent kidnapping of critics of President William Ruto.
In recent weeks, the country has witnessed young critics of the administration Kenya First disappearing in suspicious circumstances.
Their disappearance has been blamed on the National Police Service amid calls for Ruto take action and ensure the missing are reunited with their loved ones.
Who is behind the latest kidnapping?
In a heated press conference on Monday, December 30, the lawmaker blamed the former vice president, insisting that it was part of his political strategy.
“It is alleged that he is the one planning the kidnapping to create an image that the government is bad to further his political agenda,” said the member of parliament.
Mutuse claimed that Gachagua was working with his remaining supporters to smear Ruto's administration and inciting Kenyans against Kenya First.
“I have received reliable information that the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, his close associates, who work with people who support his current in the government and others who were in the government before may be the ones planning the current kidnapping to raise public sentiment against the government and create and create opposition to the government for their political life and political actions,” Mutuse said.

What is Mutuse's message to Gachagua
The Member of Parliament who presented the motion for the removal of Gachagua in the National Assembly dared to clear his name.
Mutuse claimed that the former Mathira MP had people working for him, kidnapping Kenyans who criticize the government.
He added that after they disappeared, Gachagua is moving forward quickly to blame the government for the same situation.
“I have decided to announce this publicly and challenge Rigathi Gachagua, the former deputy president to come forward and explain to Kenyans his role in the current kidnapping,” he said.
Mutuse commented that if Gachagua is involved in the disappearance, the police must take decisive action to ensure that he and his accomplices face justice.

Earlier, Gachagua questioned Ruto's promise to end kidnappings targeting government critics, citing inconsistencies in his statements.
Gachagua criticized Ruto for initially denying the existence of the kidnapping, questioning the sudden change in his narrative.
