Youth groups and human rights activists organized the long-awaited protest to counter the increase in kidnappings and enforced disappearances by the police.

Has Omtatah been arrested?

The video that TUKO.co.ke has watched it showed the senator of kiss being forcefully loaded into a police car when the protest reached its climax.

This is after Omtatah, along with several other Kenyans, chained themselves to a police car demanding the release of the abductees.

As the police struggled to force him into their car, Omtatah, wearing a red sweater, raised one hand, insisting that victory against kidnapping in the country is certain.

“Aluta continua! Victory is certain! Victory is certain!” Omtatah was heard singing.

Omtatah and his companions were detained at the Nairobi CBD Central Police Station.

Was there violence during the anti-kidnapping protests?

Chaos broke out in the center of Nairobi as the police moved to disperse the protesters demanding action against the increase in alleged police abductions.

In videos circulating online, thick smoke filled the air as tear gas fired into crowds, and gunfire rang out across the city.

Protesters, many with placards, had earlier sat down, singing songs and asking about the whereabouts of the missing people.

The police response extended to the staff of threewith officials blocking some access roads to the CBD to prevent protests.

In Mombasa, young people took to the streets to join their counterparts in Nairobi to protest kidnappings across the country.
