Police Fired Tear Bombs in Nairobi to Disperse Anti-Kidnapping Protesters

Nairobi – Police officers have moved to disperse the crowd that has been gathering in Nairobi's Central Business District following a call by protest throughout the country.

The expected protests were called by youth groups and human rights defenders following the escalation of allegations of police abductions and forced disappearances.

In videos shared online, heavy smoke can be seen in the city as gunshots ring out in the air.

Initially, the protesters held a meeting while singing anti-government songs while questioning the whereabouts of the abducted people.

“Where are they,” the crowd chanted in unison as others tried to list the names of the youths who have gone missing in recent days.
