Gachagua Accuses Ruto's Administration of Using Kidnappings to Silence Government Critics

Nyeri – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his views on kidnapping cases which have been on the rise in recent days.

Addressing journalists in Nyeri on Friday, December 27, Gachagua claimed to be President William Ruto he uses kidnapping as a political weapon.

According to Gachagua, the Ruto government is using kidnapping to silence government critics, such as those who opposed the 2024 Finance Bill.

“If you speak against the government, you will be taken by the famous Subaru youth and disappear. The message of this is to scare the youth of our nation and discourage them from speaking out, as they did when they expressed their disagreement with the 2024 Finance Bill. luck bad, this government's strategy of trying to scare Kenyans into silence while they lie, steal and destroy our nation cannot and will not succeed,” said Gachagua.

The former deputy president said the recent cases of kidnapping are a clear example that the Ruto government has no communication with Kenyans.

“Indeed, this is another example of how this administration has distanced itself from the reality of the current situation in Kenya,” he added.

The former Member of Parliament for Mathira claimed that the government of Kenya First it will not succeed in justifying the recent abduction as a lawful arrest.

“Your own security officials have confirmed that kidnapping is taking place. Our neighbor Uganda it even thanked us for capturing the leader of the political opposition of their country and handing him over to them. The efforts of the officials of your government to try to change the direction of these events and say that it is a legal arrest will not succeed,” said the former vice president.

Gachagua reiterated his earlier claims that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) is not functioning properly.

The former vice president asked his former boss to take full responsibility for the increasing cases of kidnappings, which he described as deplorable.

“When I raised concerns about the dysfunctionality of the National Intelligence Service, I was called insubordinate. However, the events of recent months have unfortunately proved my position. President William Ruto must be held fully accountable and deal with this deplorable breach.”
