A lonely woman from Migori county has received an early Christmas present from kind Kenyans.
Mother Christine, was given a new home by the Good Samaritans.
The 50-year-old mother moved into her new one-bedroom apartment after her sad story went viral.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Wambura Chacha, who visited Mama Christine, told her sad story which saddened many.
“He lives near the border of Tanzania and Kenya. She has lived in Kenya for almost 30 years. She had a husband who died a decade ago, and her son left for Tanzania a long time ago. Since he left, he has never been in contact with her. Part of the reason is the poor infrastructure here, like weak internet, so it's hard to reach other people,” he said.
A Migori woman lived in a bad house for 30 years
Wambura said that the 50-year-old mother had been living in a mud house full of cracks for almost three decades since she married as a second wife.
He does not have many neighbors as the housing is limited, and he lost contact with his family.
“I shared the story online, and several donors came forward to help her. Some pledged to buy a mattress, some sent money, and some wanted to help her in various ways. We raised the money and built her a one-room house. It's not very fancy but it's better than the one he lived in,” said the journalist.
The radio host noted that the project is not finished, as they plan to decorate it when Mother Christine moves.
