Speaking during the Sunday service, Njeru expressed gratitude for the support of believers during a difficult period in his life.

Njeru's conflict with his girlfriend Florence Wanjiku

The businessman found himself on the wrong side of the law after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend Florence Wanjiku turned ugly.

Njeru hit the headlines when Wanjiku accused him of attacking and stabbing him 18 times at their home in Rongai following an argument over business and personal issues.

He was rushed to Optimum Hospital in critical condition but has since received treatment and been allowed to go home.

From his hospital bed, Wanjiku described their strained relationship, citing previous attempts to leave Njeru which allegedly met with resistance.

After the incident, Njeru surrendered to the police, publicly apologized to his wife of 12 years, Wairimu, and expressed remorse for his actions.

His attendance at the JCM church service drew mixed reactions online.

A video shared by Bishop Kiengei showed the faithful cheering when Njeru was called to address.

“Why are you so happy? Is it because of Elias? Well, Elias, come and talk to them. In fact, we thank God,” said Bishop Kiengei, acknowledging the joy of the believers.

The loving reception sparked debate online, with critics challenging the church's stance on gender-based violence (GBV).

Njeru, feeling emotional, stood up and went to the altar to address the faithful, thanking them for welcoming him back with open arms.

“I am grateful for the love you have shown and your prayers. The only thing that will make me stay at JCM is love and prayers,” Njeru said addressing the happy believers.

His statements come a few days after he promised to strengthen his relationship with Wairimu, whom he hopes to marry soon.

Dama of Spares criticizes Bishop Kiengei

Controversy grew after Bishop Kiengei's recent sermon went viral online.

The pastor appeared to defend men in violent marriages, claiming that some women contribute to such situations.

His statements were not accepted by businessman Dama, who criticized him for spreading misconceptions about GBV.

Dama took to the internet to criticize the pastor, accusing him of allowing abusers and failing to protect the dignity of GBV victims.
