Did Kiambu church leaders regret supporting Ruto?

Speaking at the PCEA Kahawa Wendani Parish Church on Sunday, December 15, the church leaders regretted for campaigning in support of Ruto against the presidential candidate of Declaration of UnityRaila Odinga.

Bishop Paul Kibiro blamed church leaders, saying that the church helped leaders without vision to win the 2022 elections.

“I feel bad, and as an individual, I regret what we did in 2022,” said Kibiro.

Patrick Mucheru, an elder of the church, agreed with Kibiro's views, saying that the church should be responsible for campaigning in support of the Union of Kenya First.

Mucheru said the church leaders have asked God for forgiveness for the mistake they claimed to have made by supporting Ruto.

“We like to repent to God as a church. We are the ones who put this government in power,” said Mucheru.

The Catholic Church criticized Ruto

Recently, President Ruto and the Kenya First government have faced heavy criticism from church leaders, a situation that has sparked a heated debate about national issues.

The tension started when the bishops of the Catholic Church accused the president of promoting a culture of deception and allowing corruption.

The conflict escalated after the bishops of the Catholic Church in Soweto rejected a donation of KSh 5.6 million from Ruto, saying it was against the church's instructions.

The leaders of the indigenous churches defended Ruto

Meanwhile, the Federation of Evangelical and Traditional Churches called on Kenyans to remain calm, urging them to put aside their differences and give President Ruto time to fulfill his promises.

Speaking during the inauguration of Bishop Paul Ogutu, the religious leaders emphasized the need for national unity and encouraged the people to avoid divisive politics.

Religious leaders also asked the people to recognize the efforts of the president, expressing their belief that he has a clear vision for the development of the country.
