kiss – A wedding in Butula, Marachi Central, was marred by chaos and sadness after the groom disappeared, leaving the bride, her family, and guests heartbroken.
The much awaited ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, December 14, was called off after waiting for several hours without the groom arriving.
Why was Busia's wedding called off?
The bride's grandfather and another resident of the village, speaking to TUKO.co.ke on condition of anonymity, revealed that tension had started to emerge between the two a few weeks before the wedding.
The groom, who lives in Nairobi and has two wives, was in conflict with the bride over the wedding date.
“They were arguing about this for several months. She (the bride) wanted the wedding to take place earlier, while the groom wanted more time to prepare,” the grandfather explained.
Although the couple had originally planned to get married in April 2025, the bride insisted on holding the wedding in December, claiming that she could afford the event without financial support from the groom.
It is also alleged that the woman, who has been married for almost 15 years, paid the dowry herself.
The situation worsened when the groom was seen at a village bar with another woman, believed to be one of his wives.
The bride, after hearing the information, confronted him at the bar, which led to a public quarrel.
“He accused him of not paying attention to the wedding because of his other wife,” said a resident of the village who witnessed the incident.
The bride's insistence on having a wedding in December despite unresolved issues has raised mixed feelings among community members.

What happened on the wedding day?
On the day of the wedding, the guests gathered in the church, but the bride did not arrive.
According to tradition, the groom was expected to take the bride from his home, but he did not.
It is reported that the groom told family members that he was in Nairobi and on his way, but despite many phone calls, he was nowhere to be seen.
“He was answering the phone but he was saying he was on his way,” the grandfather added.
After waiting for several hours, the pastor got tired and finally closed the church, leaving the marriage uncelebrated.
The guests headed to the bride's home, where the food for the reception had already been prepared.
The groom's absence had a negative effect on the bride and her family. The bride's mother-in-law reportedly fell ill from the shock and was rushed to the hospital.
The bride who was very sad is now at her mother's house recovering.

As the situation continues to settle, the fate of the couple's relationship remains controversial, leaving a huge impact on society.
