Nairobi – Detectives from the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have arrested a man linked to the murder of Sospeter Osunga aka 'Akoko the Billionaire'.
Who killed Akoko the billionaire?
On Monday, December 9, DCI announced the arrest of Brian Otieno Maurice in Kibra, Nairobi county.
“DCI Kibra detectives have arrested Brian Otieno Maurice, the main suspect in the murder of Sospeter Osunga, aka 'Akoko Billionaire' in the incident that happened on November 18, 2024,” DCI said.
In the statement, DCI said that day of the disaster, Osunga was attacked by a gang in the Ayani area in Kibra.
“Investigations have revealed that on that fateful day, Osunga was badly attacked by a gang of thugs in the Ayani area where he sustained serious injuries on his back, believed to have been caused by a sharp object,” said the statement.
After a thorough investigation, three people were initially arrested and provided important information, which together with other intelligence information, led to the arrest of the main suspect who is expected to be brought to court.
The DCI urged the people to embrace peace and avoid violations that could lead to loss of life and disruption of peace in the neighborhoods.
How did the DCI arrest Paul Odhiambo?
Meanwhile, the DCI announced the arrest of a suspect linked to the shooting of Abdirahim Abdullahi Ibrahim on November 9 at DD Plaza in Eastleigh.
Paul Odhiambo Owuodho, 27, who is also known as Fazul Muhamed, was arrested in an operation led by detectives Shauri Moyo and their colleagues from DCI headquarters.
According to a DCI statement released on Saturday, November 23, a report filed at the California Police Station indicated that a guard heard a gunshot the night Ibrahim was killed.
He alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and found Ibrahim's body in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the neck.
DCI detectives launched a mission to hunt down the suspect responsible for Ibrahim's murder. After a long manhunt, the suspect Odhiambo was found on Friday, November 22, in a shanty town in Kiambiu, where he was arrested and detained.
