A pharmacist who disappeared on his way to work, was found buried next to his house

Tanzania – A family is struggling to come to terms with the death of their relative, a pharmacist at Temeke Regional Hospital, Magdalena Kaduma.

How did Magdalena's mother know about her daughter's disappearance?

Sophia, Magdalena's mother, said that on the day of the incident, she was called by the husband of the deceased, Kenan Mwandalima, informing her that his wife was not at home and her whereabouts were unknown.

“Her husband called me and asked me if Magdalena is at my house because he has not seen her,” said the mother.

The family started efforts to find Magdalena in various places while trying to understand the circumstances that led to her disappearance,” Sophia added.

Sophia said that when they arrived at Magdalena's house, she questioned her husband about what happened and why he did not take immediate action when he saw that his wife was not there.

“I looked at the area where vegetables and sugarcane were cultivated, but one side looked like it was weeded. When I moved to look, I stepped on some part that was soft, then I told my younger brother,” said Sophia.

Why Did Magdalena's Family Call the Police?

After discovering that, Sophia said she decided to take a closer look at the cultivated area because it looked like it hadn't been worked on for a long time. As he stepped further, it felt like a mattress.

“When we saw that, we had to call the security agencies, who gave an order to exhume. Then my daughter's body was taken out, wrapped in a sheet.”

Why Was Magdalena's Husband Arrested?

After Magdalena's body was found, her husband was arrested by the police for questioning.

Magdalena's mother said that the deceased never informed her if she had any problems with her husband.

“His silence has made us unable to understand the cause of his death because no one knows what caused the murder, even by feeling,” said the mother.
