There was a sad moment in Kirinyaga county when two young friends who died together were being held a joint funeral.
Seven-year-old Teddy Njeru and his friend Michael Philip, a 12-year-old boy, died a few days ago after being hit by a speeding lorry in Mwea, Kirinyaga county.
The two friends were laid to rest in a joint ceremony where family and friends gathered to mourn them; local leaders also attended.
In his speech, MCA of the area Peter Karinga promised to take action against careless Miraa drivers who interrupt the lives of innocent villagers.
“We have set a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour. Any careless Miraa driver who drives more than that will face the wrath of bodaboda drivers in this area, they will help us control them,” he said.
Teddy's family remembers the last moments
Teddy's family was filled with grief as they recalled his last moments before his tragic death.
“Those who were there witnessed Teddy hesitating to go, saying he had been asked not to go. He was a very good boy. May Teddy rest in peace,” he said.
A few days ago, the two families also held a candlelight ceremony in honor of the two boys.
“This is sad; we are still coming to terms with the passing of these young children through the tragic Miraa pro box car accident that hit Teddy and Gichuki. I joined family and friends in lighting candles and funeral arrangements for others. Teddy and Gichuki, you will remain in our hearts forever. ,” MCA wrote on Facebook.
Another Kirinyaga family is burying his relative
In separate news, another family in Kirinyaga also buried their relative yesterday.
It was a sad time when a Kirinyaga girl who died in Nairobi after being in the city for a few months was buried.
Eunice Wanja Wachira passed away three months after completing her training program in the city.
