A 65-year-old man from Nyeri has been circumcised after reaching out to the elderly in a community that has never undergone the ritual expected of Kikuyu customs.
The details show that the man's condition was discovered after his girlfriend reported him to the elders after discovering that he had not been circumcised when he was young.
A report by Inooro FM noted that the elders arranged for the old man to be circumcised, which was successfully done.
Currently, he is resting at home under the care of his loving wife.
The elders expressed great sadness for the 65-year-old man, as he was part of the elders (Kiama) of the community without being circumcised all his life.
“My name is Gerald Kung'u from Kieni. We were very surprised because one of us, aged 65, had not been circumcised in all these years. We have been friends for a long time, but we did not know. When we got the information, we went to confirm and later escorted him undergo that process.
“He is at home recovering while his wife takes care of him until he recovers completely,” one of the elders told Kameme FM while expressing his regrets.
