During a rally in Taita Taveta county on Monday, December 2, Joho lashed out at social media users who used their time to criticize President William Ruto's administration.
The popular minister suggested that some critics of the government usually hang on Wi-Fi free of charge given by Ruto to criticize the government.
“There are some people in Nairobi who have smartphones and data. The data could even be the free Wi-Fi provided by Ruto. What they are doing is criticizing the government. While they are talking, we are at home,” Joho said.
Joho threatened to start dealing with bloggers who use social media to criticize the government.
“A country cannot be built through the Internet. It cannot be built by people whose work revolves around Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Let me put you on notice. We can also talk. If they cause us problems, we can also cause the same problems,” he said.
How Kenyans responded to Hassan Joho's remarks
Some Kenyans did not receive well the views of the Minister of Mines, and vowed to confront Joho.
Some of them encouraged Kenyans to share information about Joho's businesses so that the public can boycott them.
