Nairobi: Ian Horold Kihuha has not spoken to his family for six years as they did not support his decision to marry his beautiful wife, Aaniqa.

The Pakistani YouTubers met at Jalaram College years ago, and although Ian showed interest early on, Aaniqua agreed to date him two years later.
They lived together for four years before telling their parents about their decision to get married.
Why did Ian convert to Islam?
In a live interview with TUKO Love Talks, Ian, who is the son of a Luo father and a Kikuyu mother, explained that in order to marry Aaniqua, he had to change his religion and become a Muslim. In fact, he married his Pakistani wife 15 minutes after he converted.
According to the young mother, her culture did not involve exchanging cows.
“We haven't spoken in six years, so they weren't with me through this process. It was a decision I had to make as a man for my wife.
“There were just too many stories and I had to go out to focus on my family. I don't have a father, so I'm a single mother, the place where the journey will be has not yet arrived. I stabilize … I plan to have a great wedding and he will be invited,” he added.
Would Aaniqua change her religion for Ian?
Aaniqua said if the tables were turned, she would do the same. Although his father supported them when they needed to formalize their marriage, he did not approve of the marriage.
“He initiated our marriage, he tried very hard. I tried to understand that their culture does not accept marriage between different cultures. Ian's mother and my parents want to meet our son though,” he said.
Although her relationship with her mother-in-law was strained, Aaniqua remembers the best times when an older woman would call her and introduce herself as her daughter-in-law.
What culture do Aaniqua and Ian follow?
For his part, Ian has no relationship at all with his in-laws.
“Especially with my mother, whom we have not spoken to for 15 years. Her father used to talk to me and was asked by my mother, but now we don't,” he said.
“Our coming together caused a great rift in the Aaniqua family,” Ian shared.
The couple announced that they have their own culture and do not follow any rules. Their child is a sweet 'cocktail' of Pakistani, Kikuyu, and Luo tribes.
