The newspaper which reported information has emerged about how the police ignored the signs of political unrest at the funeral where the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua had to flee for his life.
Local stakeholders have revealed that the plan to attack Gachagua could have been carried out a day before the funeral.
News sources indicate that a group of youths planned to attack on Wednesday after news spread that Gachagua would visit the family to make his personal contribution and attend evening prayers.
Gachagua, through one of his close associates, had sent his personal donation of KSh50,000 to the family after the funeral planning committee contacted him.
He also expressed his intention to attend the funeral, according to Joseph Karanja Muchai, popularly known as Shujaa, who was part of the organizing committee.
A senior police source revealed with confidence that they had all the intelligence information indicating the possibility of chaos, due to past events after the removal of Gachagua.
However, the source claimed that people close to the Executive used their influence to warn senior police officers against providing security for the Gachagua event.
The animals were reportedly transported to Bibirioni area, the burial place, from Kabete, Kikuyu, Limuru and Kiambaa.
They started arriving from eight o'clock in the morning, even before the procession from the mortuary arrived.
Eyewitness accounts recounted how the youths, who the villagers could tell were not from the area, went to smoke when they arrived and positioned themselves strategically, watching and close to the dignitaries.
They later threw stones at the main platform, pulled down tents, and used chairs, sticks and other weapons to attack the convoy of Mr Gachagua and his close political allies.
“I will be lying to you if I say that we have no intelligence that there will be chaos during the funeral, all the information and guidelines are over, and some local administrators are on WhatsApp groups like Uteti wa Limuru (Limuru Politics). even reaching us but what do you do when people close to you call you and other senior police officers and tell you not to protect someone because they are not senior government officials? appointments are political, and officials often complain quietly.

Yes, we know what is wrong and what is right, but sometimes we are drawn into fights that are not ours. On a personal level, you feel like you're letting people down and being taken advantage of, and with all of this, it's the people who are directly suffering,” a senior police officer told the paper.
Officially, senior service officials rejected this position.

According to the newspaper, the former Member of Parliament for Limuru, Peter Mwathi, who was allegedly kidnapped, claims he was released at two in the morning and dumped on the Southern Bypass road.
“He is not injured, but he is very hurt. The information we have is that he was chased around and left overnight,” Secretary General of Jubilee Party Jeremiah Kioni said.
Mwathi's wife, Anne Mungai, who on Thursday night accompanied some officials to the headquarters of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Nairobi in an effort to find the former member of parliament, claimed that Mwathi's car was crushed by two Subaru cars while he was being taken. .

Leaders who accompanied him included Senators Karungo Thang'wa (Kiambu) and John Methu (Nyandarua) and MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba (Githunguri).
Back in Bibirioni village, Kimani Jambezu, family spokesperson and chairman of the funeral management committee, said the incident was shameful for the family, neighbors and friends.
“Gachagua is a Kenyan like any other person with the right to socialize and express opinions. Disrespecting funerals, especially in the village, is disgusting and disgusting,” Jambezu said.
He added that the unrest is a double tragedy for the family, given that Erastus Nduati, the young man who was buried, was killed.
The police denied reports that they arrested Mwathi. The spokesperson of the National Police Service, Resila Onyango, said Mwathi was not a person of interest in the investigation.
3. Nation Today
The Kiswahili newspaper reported that MPs have criticized church leaders, asking them to leave politics and focus on their main responsibility of providing spiritual food to their believers.
The MPs accused religious leaders for banning political donations in churches and linking politicians with corruption, alleging that priests have failed to lead the community and have instead ventured into politics.
The leader of the majority, Kimani Ichung'wah, strongly criticized church leaders, explaining that they should not threaten politicians to stop donations for the development of the church, especially since the same leaders are inviting them to raise money.
Referring to the contributions made by the President William Ruto for the Soweto Catholic Church in Nairobi, Ichung'wah emphasized that it was the leaders of the church who sought help.
This debate highlights the growing tension between politicians and religious leaders regarding the role of the church in governance and social issues.
