The Ministry of Public Service Invites Kenyans to Buy Cars, Other Products in the December Auction

In a public notice, the ministry said that the auction will involve used cars and antique shops, thus giving Kenyans the opportunity to buy the goods at competitive prices.

“The Ministry of Public Service and Human Resource Development, State Department of Public Service, in conjunction with the appointed auctioneer M/s Flomer Auctioneers of PO Box 29 00202 Nairobi, will sell by public auction the used cars and antique shops on 11 December 2024. starting at 10.00 am,” read part of the public statement.

Who will auction those cars?

The notice said that the company M/S Flomer Auctioneers will facilitate the auction at the Mechanical Department of the Ministry of Public Works, located in the Nairobi Industrial Area. Bidding during the auction will begin at 10:00 am.

Interested bidders can access the auction catalog and further information from the Ministry's official website at mps.go.ke or through the free Public Procurement information website tenders.go.ke.

The ministry further said that hard copies of the catalog are also available from the supply chain management office at Telposta Towers, 2nd Floor, during normal working hours.

KEBS announces new rules for importing cars

On the other hand, the Kenya Standards Agency announced new regulations for the importation of used and second-hand vehicles, effective January 1, 2025.

The regulations enforce an eight-year age limit, allowing only Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles whose first year of registration is on or after January 1, 2018.

Vehicles registered in 2017 or earlier and arriving in Kenya after December 31, 2024, will not meet the compliance requirements and will be rejected at the importer's expense.
