Jalang'o criticizes Archbishop Philip Anyolo for rejecting William Ruto's donation

Lang'ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang'o, has criticized Nairobi Archbishop Philip Anyolo's decision to reject donations from politicians.

The move, which has sparked much debate, saw the church reject important donations, including KSh 2.6 million from President William Ruto and KSh 200,000 from the Nairobi governor. Johnsonintended for the Catholic Church in Soweto.

Why did the Catholic church reject Ruto's donation?

According to instructions from the Kenya Catholic Bishops Council (KCCB), Archbishop Anyolo said that the church aims to prevent political donations and the use of church events for political promotion.

Furthermore, the Nairobi Archdiocese rejected the promise of KSh 3 million and a parish bus from the president.

Should the church return political donations?

Speaking to content creators, Jalang'o expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision, attributing it to the lack of political tolerance against the current administration.

He criticized the action saying it has no basis, especially considering the great role of the church in supporting the government during the campaign.

“It is good for everyone to have their opinion, but let's not forget that the same churches once welcomed these politicians, now everyone is criticizing the government and returning donations. Isn't it true that this government was born by the church, for the church?”

Has the Catholic church returned the money to Ruto?

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the White House Hussein Mohamed said Ruto paid KSh. The donation of 2.6 million has not yet been received, despite the announcement of a refund by the Catholic Church.

Hussein confirmed this report to Citizen TV on Tuesday, November 19.
