He sent out a series of provocative tweets on Wednesday evening, November 20, claiming that government officials in unmarked vehicles were constantly following him.

Gachagua claimed that the unknown people have been behind him not only in Nairobi but also at their home in Nyeri County.

They appreciate every guest who calls.

“Security agents in unmarked cars have been following me wherever I go. They park at the gate of my residence in Nairobi, paying attention to all my guests, and follow me every time I leave the house, even to my home in Nyeri village.” The former vice president said.

Why is Gachagua worried?

Gachagua expressed concern about his safety, suggesting that his pursuers may be cunning due to the spate of kidnappings and extrajudicial killings that have been reported recently.

He said he decided to involve the people so that the government is held accountable if any harm happens to it.

“In this age of indiscriminate killings, forced kidnappings and disappearances by government officials, I have found it important to share with Kenyans the abuse and threats I am experiencing, and to inform them to hold the government accountable if I am harmed by government agencies. “ said Gachagua.

Appearing to have sour grapes after being sacked, Gachagua sent an indirect message to the President William Rutoasking to be left alone as he was unjustly removed from power.

Gachagua seemed to wonder why the government is still following him even after he left his post; he asked to be left to live in peace like any other citizen.

“I ask the government to leave me alone! You kicked me out of office, and now you should let me enjoy my peace as a private citizen,” he said.

He blamed the current administration for using the old tactics of the late Daniel Moi's government to deal with opponents.

Gachagua's complaint came a few days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) denied reports that its detectives were tracking him.

Reports from parts of the country's media said that Gachagua's visit to the PriestHood Fellowship Church in Kahawa West, Nairobi, on November 10, was preceded by drama at the residence of the church's resident priest, Pastor JJ Gitahi.

What he said DCI about Gachagua's attendance at the Nairobi church

The reports had indicated that detectives riding in unmarked vehicles went to Gitahi's residence in Ruiru on Sunday morning to find out why he was welcoming Gachagua to his church.

The investigators maintained that welcoming the former vice president was a threat to the nation as he would use the pulpit to mobilize the public due to his recent political woes.
