Njugush Congratulates Catholic Church In Soweto For Rejecting KSh 5 Million Donation From Ruto

Comedian Timothy Kimani, popularly known as Njugush, has responded to Nairobi Archbishop Philip Anyolo's rejection of the President's donations William Ruto and other politicians to the Catholic Church in Soweto.

Njugush he praised the Catholic Church for denouncing the contribution made by the president in a statement that is now viral.

The comedian took to his X account and cheered after Anyolo rejected Ruto's contribution, saying the syllabus was moving fast. He said:

“This is it now. This curriculum is being rushed as if we will finish it before the end of term exams…. #KenyaMpya.”

The archbishop's statement on behalf of the Catholic Church mentioned the KCCB's directives prohibiting political donations to churches and using church events to advertise themselves politically.

“The Catholic Church strongly opposes the use of church events such as fundraising and gatherings as platforms for political self-promotion. Politicians are asked to refrain from turning the pulpit into a platform for political gossip, as such actions undermine the sanctity of places of worship.”Anyolo said.

Anyolo claimed that the church must refuse political donations, which could jeopardize its independence.

He added that political leaders should make efforts to address the core issues raised by the KCCB, such as ending corruption and addressing unfulfilled promises.
