John Mugo wanted to marry Margaret in an official church, but there were challenges.
Where will Mugo and Margaret's wedding take place?
The couple will get married on Saturday, December 14, at a ceremony to be held at St Andrew's Catholic Church in Chuka.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, a community leader, Dennis, said Mugo explained his dream during the funeral ceremony.
“I was the chairman of the funeral ceremony, and Mugo was there. He asked for a chance to talk and share his dream with the guests. He humbly asked for someone's help to make his wedding a success in order to officially close his relationship with his lover, who has been with him for more than 50 years. I joked that if I had a ring, I would support them. We started looking for people to support the party, and the response was great.” he said.
Dennis noted that Mugo had been planning a wedding for a long time, but they could not get married because Mugo was attending the Catholic church, while Margaret was attending the Salvation Army Church.

He was able to convince Margaret to join him in his Catholic Church, which made it easier for them to dream of getting married and revived their hopes of having the ceremony.
“The community supports them because Mugo, who is 94 years old, is a well-known person. He attends all social events, be it funerals, weddings, meetings and even contributes like other people. He was inspired to get married after attending many weddings, and he wanted to do the same.
He and Margaret had never been officially married, and he wanted to change that. They have four children, one of them died, but I can't confirm about the grandchildren. The budget is KSh 600,000, and we call on anyone and everyone to help us achieve the couple's dreams,” he said.

Similarly, a 79-year-old man from Eldoret married a young lady in a beautiful wedding few months after losing his first wife.
The old man, with the help of his church, found new love after sharing his desire to remarry with the church elders.
Aruso's grandson told TUKO.co.ke that his sons initially opposed his decision to remarry but eventually accepted the idea.
