Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, donor and preacher Mercy Nungari said that Mwangi was found in the country Uganda on his way to Rwanda.

He noted that he is asking philanthropists and the team to help bring him back to Kenya and finally reunite him with his family.

The donor noted that the Kenyan man was living on the streets due to his mental challenges.

However, a team of philanthropists from Uganda is currently taking care of him.

“He was living on the streets in Uganda on his way to Rwanda, but I talked to the philanthropists there who are currently taking care of him while I look for his family, although I plan to bring him back so that he can find his family while he is here with us,” Nungari explained.

How did John Mwangi get to Uganda?

Information about how Mwangi arrived in Uganda is still unknown.

The preacher pointed out that he may have been one of the drivers of long-distance vehicles who probably had a problem while in a foreign country and could not return home.

When asked how he got to the neighboring country, he told Nungari that he went by himself.

“He is going through mental challenges, but apparently he was one of the drivers of long-distance vehicles because he says he went to Uganda himself. We cannot confirm that at the moment because of mental issues,” he said.

The donor shared in a Facebook post that Mwangi left the country more than a decade ago and settled in Uganda.

He noted that the man seems to have mental challenges but he can remember some of his relatives, including his brothers and sisters.

“He is in Uganda on his way to Rwanda. His name is John Mwangi; he left Kenya during the Kibaki administration. He has mental challenges, but he can remember his brother Maina, who was the Akamba bus driver,” he wrote.
