The loot – Nyamira County Police have launched an investigation after a candidate for the Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) was allegedly attacked by an official of the Ministry of Education.
Mwananchi Digital reported that a student at Sironga Girls' High School collapsed on Tuesday, November 12, after a Ministry of Education official slapped her.

According to the police report, the candidate was taking an exam in the classroom when Beatrice Kendi, a quality assurance officer, entered the room around 9 am.

At the time, the student was chewing on what Kendi suspected was “unauthorized material” and slapped him.
“He moved closer and slapped the student several times but he did not find any evidence that the candidate was stealing the exam,” the police report said in part.
After the official of the ministry left, the student struggled in class and fainted just before the exam ended at around 4 am.
Police said the student was rushed to the school clinic, where he was treated and recovered.

In a similar incident, a police officer deployed to provide security during the ongoing KCSE examinations is said to have beaten up a candidate at Bulonga Secondary School.
The incident happened on Monday, November 11, when the students were preparing to take their Kiswahili Paper III exam, which caused panic among the students and school officials.
According to the report submitted at the Harambee Police Station, the officer, identified as Constable Hamisi Mwambeni, was repeatedly harassing students before the exam began
During the process, he noticed a small wallet in the candidate's pocket, which he considered suspicious.
Mwanmbi allegedly slapped the student and gave a stern warning saying “he will deal with anyone who makes fun of him” during the exam.
