A video of Willis Ayieko's vigil has emerged.
When was Willis Ayieko buried?
Thousands of mourners attended the funeral on Saturday, November 9.
Videos and photos of the service circulating online showed a large modern white tent set up to shield mourners from the rain.
His family sat on the dais, facing the crowd of mourners as Ayieko's body lay before them in a casket. They looked overwhelmed with grief.
At one point, Ayieko's daughter slept on her mother's lap, looking tired.
Security was tight with several men dressed in black making sure things went smoothly. The body of the deceased was carried by his colleagues, who were wearing t-shirts Wells Fargo.
Some politicians at the funeral include the Governor James Orengowho called for speedy justice.
Others were Minister Opiyo Wandayi and Member of Parliament for Lang'ata Jalang'o.
Why is disco matanga popular?
A video of the vigil, popularly known as disco matanga, showed dozens of mourners dancing around the coffin of the deceased.
Disco matanga is popular in the area the west and involves a night of dancing to celebrate the late life.
A tent was erected to protect the mourners and the coffin from the rain as they played Dholuo songs.
A fat man, who was no doubt part of the security team, stood by to make sure things were going well.
A source told TUKO.co.ke that the 'proper' disco matanga would be held after the burial.
“We consider our part of the deceased even in death, and disco matanga gives us a chance to celebrate them. In the past, the elderly used to stay with the family after the funeral for a vigil to help them bear the tragedy.”
What did Willis Ayieko's wife say?
In his honour, Ayieko's wife, Esther Wagumba, promised to always love him. Esther remembered their last meal with Ayieko's brother and their plans to travel the world.
He revealed that they were together for 18 years, and his love never wavered.
Esther noted that Ayieko was a good giver.
What you need to know about the investigation into Ayieko's murder
There was a new situation when two women were arrested with the gun of the murdered Wells Fargo HR, important evidence that helps to continue the investigation of his tragic death.
However, one of the female suspects involved in the murder case died from injuries sustained during a shootout when the police reportedly intervened while they were on their way to carry out a violent robbery.
Another suspect, a bodaboda driver from PoisonousFredrick Otieno Omondi, was arrested for allegedly providing transportation to Victor Okoth to the location where Ayieko was abducted.
