The family of the former president Uhuru Kenyatta has plunged into mourning following the death of William Maina Gakuo.

Who is Maina Gakuo?

An obituary in a daily newspaper states that Gakuo was Margaret Kenyatta's brother, thus directly Uhuru's brother-in-law.

Gakuo was the husband of Sheila Wanjiku Mwangi and the uncle of the late Noni, Jomo and Achola, Lena and Bulisa, Ngina and Alex, and Muhoho and Chizi.

Family and friends will gather at the late Maina Gakuo's home in Karen on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10, for funeral preparations.

“The service will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:00 am at the Hindu Crematorium followed by cremation,” read part of the statement.

Gakuo's cause of death had not yet been made public at the time of publication.

However, it is known that Uhuru met Margaret through Gakuo's brother, causing their marriage to last for a long time.

The late Gakuo maintained a low profile, with most of his life private and out of the public eye.

William Ruto mourns the death of his friend

The Kenyatta family's mourning comes a few days after the President William Ruto to publicly mourn the death of Pastor Raphael Abego.

Abego gained attention after he made Ruto laugh with his complicated vocabulary and unique style of praying.

Ruto took to his social network to pay emotional tribute to the man of God who once made him laugh.

In a statement on his X account, Ruto described Obego as a dedicated servant of God and a prayer warrior.
