What did Ruto and Trump discuss?

The two leaders spoke by phone on Friday, November 8, where they discussed strengthening the relationship between Kenya and the United States and exploring areas of mutual interest.

In a statement, Ruto revealed that he and Trump discussed key topics, stressing the importance of continued cooperation Kenya and the United States.

“I had a telephone conversation with the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump. I congratulated him following his election as the 47th President of the United States,” Ruto he said.

The president noted that he is optimistic about Trump's next term, especially in advancing common goals that benefit both nations.

Ruto emphasized the importance of strengthening trade relations between Kenya and the United States and encouraging strong security cooperation, which has historically been important in combating regional threats such as terrorism.

“We discussed areas of interest and benefit to the citizens of our two countries, including trade and investment, security and good governance,” he said.

What did Ruto say to Trump?

Kenya's leadership in the International Security Assistance Mission in Haiti was an important topic of discussion between the two leaders.

The peacekeeping program launched with the support of the United Nations aims to deal with violence and ongoing instability in the Caribbean nation.

Ruto explained to Trump about Kenya's role in the mission and highlighted possible areas of US cooperation.

“I told President Trump about the International Security Assistance Mission in Haiti led by Kenya and the areas that can cooperate with the US government on this important initiative to resolve conflicts,” he revealed.

Gachagua celebrates Donald Trump's victory

Elsewhere, former vice president Rigathi Gachagua praised Trump's resilience, celebrating his return to the top of American politics after a hard-fought campaign.

The former vice president described Trump's victory as one of “the greatest political adventure of our generation”.
