One family in the county of Kiambu seeks justice following the death of their traditional father at the hands of a bandit who invaded their home at midnight.
Peter Kimani Was Allegedly Killed A Few Days Ago In Juja In The New House He Built For His Family After Retirement
A report by Inooro TV shows that Kimani, his wife, and his daughter were sleeping in their house when a thief broke into the mansion in the middle of the night.
Her daughter said she heard someone banging on their window, and woke up to see who it was.
“I asked him who he was, and the man said, 'I am a thief! Be quiet,'” he recalled, adding that his father had only lived in the new house for about a year.
Kimani's widow said they seemed to have inhaled something during the robbery because the thief had something in his hands that they think they inhaled, as they could not defend themselves.
“We thought it was kerosene but now we think it was something to confuse us because we couldn't defend ourselves even with swords or spades in our bedroom,” said the widow.
Death of Peter Kimani
The family says that after breaking into the house with an axe, the thief beat Kimani once before demanding money and other valuables.
The widow also sustained injuries during the attack, and her husband later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Videos shared show the bedroom door was smashed with an axe, giving the thief a way in.
The police suspect that the attack is one of a series of robberies carried out by a gang in the Juja area.
The gang is alleged to have invaded the house, and killed the men inside before stealing it.
“We are following some leads, and I know we will soon catch the attacker,” said Jackson Sang, OCPD of Juja.
