The dispute between two politicians caused chaos in the Parliament Ugandaresulting in the suspension of 12 members of parliament.

According to Monitor, a fight broke out between the Member of Parliament for Mityana Municipality, Francis Zaake and the Member of Parliament for Kilak North, Anthony Akol over the seat during the debate on the National Coffee Amendment Bill, 2024.

When Zaake, who had left his seat for a while to raise the mood, returned to find Akol sitting there, drama began.

Initially, the MP tried to push Akol from the seat, but things escalated quickly as they got physical.

Videos that have gone viral show Akol hitting Zaake multiple times, knocking him down in a shocking move.

What did the speaker say about the chaos in parliament

In the middle of the chaos, Anita Thanu, the Speaker of the Parliament, had to escape from the hall because it got out of hand.

Later, Zaake was seen being carried on a stretcher from the room and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Among them, at the same time, he returned to announce that 12 members of parliament associated with the case have been suspended.

They include Wakayima Musoke, Aloysius Mukasa, Zaake, and Akol. Because of their disruptive nature. The MPs were banned from participating in three consecutive sessions of Parliament.

Zaake's comments on security in Parliament initially caused tension, which was followed by violence.
