On Tuesday, November 5, Judge Reuben Nyakundi sentenced David Ekai Lokere and Peter Ushuru Khalumi to 35 years in prison.
In his judgment, Judge Nyakundi said the evidence, including CCTV images, clearly implicated the two men in the killing of Kiplagat on December 31, 2023.
Judge Nyakundi noted that this was the men's first offense but highlighted the strong evidence from the prosecution that proved their involvement. in the killing of an athlete.
The Kiplagat family, led by Elizabeth Chemweno's mother, requested a life sentence, but the judge said 35 years was appropriate.
As reported by NTVJudge Nyakundi gave Lokere and Khalumi 14 days to appeal against the decision.
