On Monday, November 4, national dailies widely reported the continued concern about the kidnappings and murders.
1. Daily Nation
This newspaper reported that Mount Kenya leaders, who avoided hostile residents after voting to remove former Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, are now planning a comeback in the area.
Leaders who supported Gachagua have explained the government's plan to prosecute the former Deputy President again to give a chance to those who kicked him out of office to come and support him in a well-designed plan.
According to Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu, one method that will be implemented is to claim that Gachagua will be arrested so that local leaders, including his critics, will rush to defend him in order to gain the favor of the voters.
“I hear there is a return plan being planned that will involve guaranteed propaganda that Gachagua will be arrested and charged in court. Those from Mount Kenya who supported removing him from office will come out to defend him, advising President Ruto's government not to persecute Gachagua further, and in the process they will be seen as fighting for his rights,” Nyutu demanded.
2. The Standard
This newspaper reported on President William Ruto's statement regarding the increase in cases of murder of women.
Speaking on Sunday, November 3, Ruto called for joint efforts to deal with this scourge which has reached alarming levels, wrongfully and criminally.
The head of state expressed his regret that the men who are supposed to protect women and girls have turned and wronged them, and promised to give the police resources to deal with the problem.
“It is true that we have a big problem. Our young people, especially girls, are being killed arbitrarily, instead of being shown love, it has been killing them. How is it possible that our girls, women of Kenya those who expect us to love them are now dying at the hands of men?” asked the President.
Ruto urged Kenyans to take personal responsibility to end the crime that hurts women and girls instead of blaming each other about who should deal with the problem.
“As a government, I want to promise that we will go further, we will provide resources to our police to face this challenge, but also, as parents, starting with myself, we must also deal with the moral issue. Lest we have fingers of blame for who should do what, “ Ruto said.
3. Nation Today
Kiswahili newspaper reported about the DAP-K party's announcement that it has officially started the process of withdrawing from the Azimio coalition.
During the meeting of the national delegates in Webuye, party leader Eugene Wamalwa said they can no longer remain in the coalition as their ODM colleagues are in government.
Wamalwa said that the party will hold local elections across the country and will provide a presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
