Gachagua Laughs at Mt Kenya MPs Who Voted to Disband, Says They See Fire in the Villages

The frustrated politician said that their decision did not go down well with their voters.

During the funeral of Mwalimu Geoffrey Murugami in Limuru on Wednesday, October 30, Gachagua noted that most of the MPs are now facing opposition from voters.

He claimed that they have failed to find platforms to speak while collaborating with the people because of their decision to remove him from power.

The recently ousted vice president suggested that this voter upheaval is a response to what he described as the betrayal of the people's trust by lawmakers.

“Nowadays I find it funny how MPs don't get a chance to speak because their behavior in the parliament angered the people. These days, they are not given a chance to address the public,” Gachagua said.

However, Gachagua reserved praise for Kiambu Karungo senator Paul Thangwa, Juja MP George Koimburi and his Githunguri colleague Gathoni Wamuchomba.

Gachagua's comments come as some of the members of parliament Mount Kenya sharing their challenges in communicating with their constituents, who have expressed dissatisfaction with their vote to be removed.

What is Gachagua's message to the residents of Mount Kenya?

He also dismissed the notion that he does not have the support of the grassroots, pointing out that the residents of Mlima Kenya traditionally they do not resort to street protests but to quietly observe and remember injustices.

Gachagua was remembered while reminding the residents of Mount Kenya of the times they faced injustice, adding that their day will come.

“Our people, is there something you don't know? Just investigate and be very quiet. Don't say anything. You know, people were saying that Gachagua has no followers in Mount Kenya; they wondered why people weren't coming to the streets, lighting fires, or making noise, but that it is not our way when we do what is needed.

You don't know what day it will be? For now, keep quiet and bear it. We were oppressed by the colonialists, and we endured but we did not forget…Moi oppressed us for 24 years, and we did not forget. Even now, we have not forgotten. For now, keep calm and go about your business, the day will come,” Gachagua advised.
