“I was a bodaboda driver, as our relationship grew, he moved in with me because of the issues he was facing at home. Our life was peaceful for the first five days, but I did not tell him that I have HIV. I thought he would leave me if he found out,” he said.

“The day he found out, he took my medicine, and he was heartbroken and (allegedly) committed suicide,” he added.

Wachira claimed that he returned from work and found his ARV drugs scattered on the floor after the woman found them. He also claimed that he found her body inside the house.

“I found the house locked from the inside, I looked inside the house and saw his dead body, I took his dead body and threw it in the field, then I surrendered to the police and confessed to killing him, I didn't know. what to do,” he added.

The man insists that, however, he did not kill his girlfriend.

“I know right now if I had called the police when I found the remains, I would not be in prison,” the prisoner said.
