According to Mungai, the judge and Kingi have a close relationship, so much so that the Speaker of the Senate attended Judge Mrima's wedding and they took pictures together.

“Judge Mrima is closely associated with Senate Speaker Amason Kingi and attended his wedding and it was posted on social media. We feel justice will not be done,” Mungai revealed.

According to Mungai, the relationship between the judge and the speaker was so close that Judge Mrima should have disclosed it at the beginning of the trial.

“The judge is guilty of not explaining something important because he should have disclosed it so that all parties can make a decision on the issue. We believe it is not appropriate to continue with this case,” the lawyer added.

Mwilu appointed a three-judge panel consisting of Judges Eric Ogolla, Anthony Mrima, and Freda Mugambi to hear the government's request to cancel the orders that prevented the appointment of Kithur Kindiki.

In its decision, the three-judge panel said that the Deputy Chief Justice has the authority to carry out the administrative duties of the Chief Justice.

The panel said that the task of the Chief Justice to appoint a panel under Article 165(4) is administrative and constitutional and can be carried out by the Deputy Chief Justice.
