Okiya Omtatah Explains The Reason For Saying No To The Vote To Fire Gachagua: “I Was Not Convinced”

Why did Omtatah vote against the dismissal of Gachagua?

Speaking to the press, Omtatah openly admitted that he was among the few senators who opposed Gachagua's removal from office.

The senator of kiss argued that the sacked vice president should be given the opportunity to defend himself in the Senate.

Omtatah went on to say that he did not believe that Gachagua should be prosecuted due to the charges against him.

“Even I had questions for him to explain, I didn't get a chance to ask them, I voted no for all the charges because I don't believe that I can live with my conscience, to sentence a man to that punishment. when I am not convinced beyond any doubt,” Omtatah said.

When asked if the courts can save Gachagua, he expressed doubt that the sacked vice president will get a decision that suits him due to the alleged level of kidnapping in the country.

“He should judge the court. But due to the level of his arrest, I don't see a very good chance. Let's wait and see what happens,” Omtatah added.

Did William Ruto hold a meeting with senators before Gachagua was dismissed?

In a different case, Senator of Nakuru Tabitha Keroche revealed surprising details regarding the circumstances surrounding Gachagua's removal from office.

The senator claimed that before the impeachment trial in the Senate, Gachagua invited the senators for a meeting.

He claimed that a few days later the President William Ruto he called him and his colleagues like Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa and Nyandarua Senator John Methu.

Keroche said he met with Ruto for two hours to discuss relationship his degenerate and Gachagua.

He also claimed that apart from their meeting with Ruto, they were called by the Minister of Internal Security and deputy president-elect Kithure Kindiki.

He said that Kindiki advised them to make the right decision about the removal of Gachagua.
