Nairobi – Former vice president Rigathi Gachagua He criticized President William Ruto for ordering the removal of the officers who were protecting him.
What Rigathi Gachagua said about his safety
Speaking on Sunday, October 20, after being discharged from the hospital, Gachagua criticized the president for denying him security despite helping him win the 2022 election.
Gachagua revealed that all his security details, including those guarding his house, had been removed.
“It is sad that when I was in the hospital, my brother and my friend the President William Ruto ordered to be removed for my safety. I didn't know President Ruto could be cruel,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua, who insisted that he is still the second in command, said that if anything happens to him or any member of his family, then the president should be held responsible.
“Starting today, DP wa Kenya he is insecure. If anything happens to me or my family, Ruto should be held responsible.
Do whatever you want to do but please, Mr. President, I am begging you, don't kill us, don't kill my children, you have caused me enough pain for the past year,” he added.
What happened to Rigathi Gachagua workers?
Elsewhere, Gachagua faced another setback, with 108 officials, consultants and contract workers in the deputy president's office ordered to take compulsory leave amid constitutional procedures.
The notice signed by Chief Administrative Secretary Patrick Mwangi, dated Saturday, October 19, calls on the workers to comply with the order by 12pm, October 20.
Heads of Departments have been instructed to appoint the officer responsible for their departments in writing, copies to be sent to the chief of staff and the administrative secretary.
