President William Ruto has appointed Internal Security Minister Kithure Kindiki to the position of Deputy President following the removal of Rigathi Gachagua in power.
The office of the Deputy President remained vacant after the Senate approved removing Gachagua from office on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
On Friday, October 18, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, announced the appointment of Kindiki to fill the position of Deputy President.
Kindiki is married to Joyce Kithure, who prefers to live a private life, and they have two children together.
During his father's funeral service, James Njagi, eight months ago, he revealed that he is his father's first child.
He read a tribute that touched many while shedding tears, with his sister comforting him on the stage.
This is one of the few times that Joyce appears in public. On another occasion, she followed her husband, who was nominated as Vice President, to the State House when he was being sworn in for the second time.
On his biography, Joyce says that he is a lecturer at the University of Nairobi in the Faculty of Chemistry.
