Nairobi – The leader of the Wiper party, Kalonzo Musyoka, has called for a Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua not to resign before his case of no confidence in him is presented in the Senate.
Kalonzo's statements came during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, October 15, when he expressed his views on the plight facing Gachagua.
The veteran politician warned Gachagua that resigning at this stage will not only damage his reputation but also put him in more trouble.
Kalonzo warned that the resignation could open the door to more cases against Gachagua, aimed at defaming his character.
He referred to the history of politicians who faced charges after leaving office, noting that if he resigns, this may be the way he finds himself.
“I respect him for his decision given the stage this process is at now; if he resigns, then everyone will say, Aah, yes, there are things. In fact, he is putting himself in danger now of being prosecuted for interfering with the process and false accusations; have we not seen that and other things to degrade his character,” Kalonzo said.
Why do Kenyans support Gachagua?
The former vice president agreed that the current political situation is good for Gachagua.
He said that a large part of the public sympathizes with him, not because they love him, but because they see him facing injustice.
“If I live in this country, people are on the side of the Deputy President. Not because they love him or anything, but I think because they see injustice. If injustice is done to one person, even if it is the Vice President, it is injustice to the whole nation,” he said.

Kalonzo advised Gachagua to see the process of not trusting him to the end and maintain his dignity, urging him to stand firm if his intentions are pure.
“I think his decision to continue to the end of the process is commendable. If I were in his position, I would go to the end. At least he can have a name to bring home. You don't need to do things to be admired or afraid. If he has nothing in his mission , he should fight, if he has nothing to fear, it is good,” Kalonzo added.
What did Gachagua say about the charges against him?
At the same time, the vice president has dismissed his charges expected to be discussed by the Senate.
During the church service in the County Embu on Sunday, October 13, the embattled vice president said he was not worried about the ongoing crisis.
Gachagua, who was recently removed by the Members of Parliament and is now awaiting a decision from the Senate, said he hopes that God will get him out of his problems.
