A man from Mlolongo has painfully narrated how he received the news of the death of the famous Super Metro singer while he was preparing to donate his blood.
Beloved Makanga Gerald Mwangi, popularly known as Makanga Bae, died at Kenyatta Hospital more than a week after he was involved in an accident.
His employer had issued a request for blood donation.
How Bosco got information about the death of Gerald Mwangi
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Bosco, a friend of Makanga who died, explained that he was scheduled to donate blood today to Mwangi, but he got news of his death while at the bus stop.
Bosco said he woke up at three in the morning because he and other friends had planned to come to KNH for a blood donation exercise after the request was made.
“When I woke up, I saw a challenge of KSh 200 in a WhatsApp group to contribute to the hospital bill. I sent my money before I started preparing for my day,” he said.
“In the morning, while I was waiting to board the matatu, a friend came to me and told me that Makanga Bae is no longer there. I was shocked. I checked WhatsApp, where I got confirmation of his death,” he added.
Bosco said he needed to find a place to sit down to reflect on the news of the death of a man he knew personally.
“I have been very busy this week, which is why I was scheduled to donate blood today. I feel guilty; I would have liked to do it sooner, but I believe in God's plan. Even some other people came to KNH to donate blood to him but they got news of his death,” he said.

Bosco described the makanga as a dedicated hard worker, who helped him when he had no fare.
“There was a time when I was going Thika Road. I told him that I had no fare, and he agreed to carry me without a penny.” he remembered.
That man of Nairobi he said the friends and family of the man are still contributing to the hospital bill, which reached KSh 700,000 as of yesterday.
