Joshua Waiganjo, a 'fake soldier' who was acquitted for his simulation, now claims that one of the companies listed in the attachments to the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua belongs to him.
Wainganjo, who hit the headlines in 2013 after being accused of impersonating a senior police officer, revealed that he is the majority shareholder of Morani Manufacturers Limited.
The company was mentioned as having received more than KSh 5.2 billion in the motion presented by the Kibwezi Member of Parliament West Mengi Mutuse on Tuesday, October 1.
Rigathi Gachagua Plans to Put Up a Wall in the Case to Remove Him from Office, Hires 20 Lawyers to Defend Him
What Joshua Waiganjo said about corruption allegations against Gachagua
In an affidavit submitted to the court through his lawyer, Danstan OmariWaiganjo said that he owns 600 shares in the company registered in 2021.
He claimed that after that, he sold 200 shares of the company to Dorcas Rigathi and Keith Ikinu Rigathi, his wife and son Gachagua respectively.
Omari, who accompanied Waiganjo in court, maintained that the wife of the vice president and his children should not be associated with the politics of overthrowing power.
“Why drag the children, their wives into political matters? It is a great insult to the constitutional protection of the family. We will be filing a case in court to protect the family under article 45 that the family members, whether of the president or the DP, must be protected from the plots of politically.
Omari said that he is going to ask the court to delete the names of the deputy president's wife and children from the parliamentary records.
“DP's wife was not elected, she was seduced and married by Riggy G (deputy president) is not present in this (motion to be dismissed) children are not elected, they were not born because of the election. It's because of the children relationship of the marriage between Riggy G and his wife,” Omar said.
The lawyer said he shared the news with Kenyans to show that those who presented the motion (to prosecute him) only wanted to attack the second wife.
“We are well aware of being under the President Uhuru Kenyattano one attacked the vice president's children. No one went to attack the wife of the Deputy President. But at this rate, this rebuke is not about Riggy G, who can defend himself, it is about his wife and children,” Omar demanded.
Omari accused the movers of running a smear campaign against Dorcas and her children.
“The attack is not only on Riggy G but also on his wife and children. We will file a case against the Kibwezi member of parliament so that the family of the Deputy President is protected,” he said.
He said the company has been operating before Gachagua became the deputy president and that it has not done any business of KSh 1 million since then.
Waiganjo added that the only business activity he did was to deliver 70 kilos of pig feed to farmers at a cost of KSh 132,000 as a check.
“I don't know anything about KSh 5.2 billion related to Morani Manufacturers Limited. I made transactions immediately since I registered Morani Manufacturers Limited where I delivered pig feed, saw and winner at a cost of KSh 132,000,” he said in court papers.
This comes a few days after the deputy president was brought to court to protest his removal from power.
Why did Gachagua file a case in court?
He claimed that the reason for his impeachment was based on baseless allegations.
Furthermore, in his plea, the vice president denied engaging in corruption to amass untold wealth.
Gachagua explained that the element in the argument stating that he owns assets worth KSh 5.2 million, which cannot be calculated, was based on feelings and lies to humiliate his profile in front of Kenyans and his family.
